This processor first leaked discreetly, then made a ghostly appearance on the AMD website without an official announcement, followed by a launch in China in March 2026. Today, pre-orders are opening in the UK at an isolated retailer for £179.99 for the OEM version. The Ryzen 5 5500X3D is quietly making its way, step by step, without much noise.
Its key feature remains unchanged since the beginning: 96 MB of 3D V-Cache on a Zen 3 6-core processor, with reduced frequencies in exchange. This processor is positioned for gaming on the numerous AM4 setups still in use. The cache argument looks good on paper, but its success will depend on one crucial factor: the price it lands at in France.
At £160, it’s a great opportunity. At £200, it’s a trap.
