A new masterpiece to further solidify their place in history. A month and a half after their Olympic triumph in Milan, Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron confirmed their status as the new leaders in ice dancing. On Saturday, March 28, in Prague, they secured the world title with an impressive display of dominance. A monumental performance from a duo still young, formed less than a year and a half ago but already elevated to a different level. With technical mastery, grace, and emotional intensity, the French pair swept past the competition. A remarkable demonstration, almost arrogant in its excellence.

They left no room for doubt. Leading comfortably after the rhythm dance, Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron stunned the competition with a free dance of rare purity. Set to the captivating soundtrack of The Whale, double Oscar winner in 2023, their performance turned into a true moment of grace, a finely crafted piece, captivating from start to finish. The audience, in awe during the four-minute program, was unable to applaud or react, as time seemed to stand still.

In just a few weeks, the French duo achieved what few couples in history can boast: an Olympic-World Championship double (Cizeron-Papadakis in 2022 already, Ponomarenko-Klimova in 1992 before). A glaring confirmation of their meteoric rise, skating together for only 14 months. For Guillaume Cizeron, it’s already a record sixth world title, after his five victories with Gabriella Papadakis, with whom he also claimed Olympic gold in Beijing in 2022. For Laurence Fournier Beaudry, it’s a first world crown, at the peak of a daring and successful project.

But beyond the numbers, it’s their manner that impresses. Their ability to tell a story, capture attention, elevate each note, each move. Now, a looming question remains. As they hinted in a press conference before these World Championships, in a still post-Olympic blues context, their future together is not yet fully decided. After clinching gold in Milan and dominating the world in the Czech Republic, the next chapter of their journey remains unwritten. And perhaps, already, in need of reinvention.
