HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A wildfire that sparked in Carolina Forest on Tuesday is causing an evacuation.
Horry County Fire Rescue responded around 2:37 p.m. to the wildfire off Redwolf Trace in the Black River area.
In an update, Horry County Fire Rescue said that three homes on Red Wolf Trail have been evacuated out of an abundance of caution.
Voluntary evacuations are taking place at multi-unit complexes on North Shore Drive, Horry County Fire Rescue said. A WMBF News employee observed evacuations at the Breakers Point Apartment.
Horry County Fire Rescue said all structures are currently protected.
Crews are working to contain the fire, which is near Ocean Bay Elementary School.
Horry County Schools said classes have already been dismissed, so there is no impact to schools in the area.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission and Horry County Police Department are helping.
People may see smoke and firefighters in the area for an extended time.
