On this parking lot, 13 floats ranging from five to six meters high take their place for the Wassy carnival. More than just an event, it is a true tradition for the city and its inhabitants.
It is eagerly awaited every year, including among carnival enthusiasts who waste no time in celebrating.
Various themed floats
Trolls, Brice de Nice, Guardians of the Galaxy, sailors, Vikings, or even Charlie Hebdo… The themes of these floats are diverse and chosen by the carnival groups themselves.
For some, the carnival is a ritual and they are present every year. This group of regular carnival-goers familiar with the event brings their own float for the first time.
A traditional parade through the streets
Several months of work were necessary to bring the floats to life. As tradition dictates, at the sound of the cannon, they set off. One after the other, the floats parade through the streets. On the sidewalks, residents gather to observe them and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
With each passing, confetti, water guns, or even flour are thrown, and no one escapes. Carnival-goers take advantage of the parade to add some dances. And the musicians are not left out in animating the festivities.
For the participants, this event is a true rendezvous that promotes bonding, cohesion, friendship, and new encounters. There is no doubt that the atmosphere promises to be just as festive next year.
