At around 7:00 p.m., about twenty people and less than ten vehicles were still on site while 94 fines had been issued, most for parking or driving on the track, three for possession or driving under the influence of drugs, and one for drug trafficking, the prefecture specified in a statement early in the evening.

This operation comes as a massive free party gathering at least 17,000 people took place for three days in Cher, where the Minister of the Interior Laurent Nuñez promised to “better crack down on this type of wild organization”.

Third time in a month

This is the third time in a month that the prefect of Var, who has banned “any festive gathering of a musical nature not declared throughout the department”, has called on the gendarmerie to stop a free party.

On April 13 in the town of Baudinard-sur-Verdon, where about a hundred people were gathered, the gendarmes issued 64 fines and made one arrest for contempt. On April 26, in the area of Ginasservis, more than 50 gendarmes from Var and Bouches-du-Rhône, according to the prefecture, ended a gathering of 150 people, of which 57 were fined, mainly for violating the ban order but also for drug use.

According to the Minister of the Interior, 337 “illegal musical gatherings” were recorded in 2025, with an average of 300 people. Only 4% exceeded a thousand participants.
