The 10th edition of Redadeg will pass through Redon on May 15, 2026, Breton culture will be in the spotlight

From May 8 to 16, 2026, day and night, the 10^e edition of the Redadeg, a relay race which takes place every two years to promote Breton culture, will cover 2 226 km from Lannion (Côtes d’Armor) to Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). As with each edition, around 15,000 participants are expected.

If its initial objective was to provide funding to the Diwan schools in order to promote the Breton language, it has since expanded to other Breton cultural projects, as well as the culture gallo.

50 km in the Pays de Redon

In this vein, the territory of Redon (Ille-et-Vilaine) is not left out. “The race often passes through here because there are quite a few local initiatives and associations linked to Breton culture. There is around 50 km of journey in the Pays de Redon,” explains Vincent Larcher, member of the local Redadeg team.

At 6:30 p.m. Place Saint Sauveur

This will take place at 8:30 p.m. on Place Saint Sauveur, on May 15, 2026. From 6:30 p.m., la place sera en fête : mini Redadeg for children, but also “music and cakes” are planned.

Anyone can participate in the race. “It is possible to come with family, friends, colleagues… Disguised or not,” suggests Vincent Larcher.

The relay carrying a message

The race is free, except for those carrying the witness. This, which is transmitted from kilometer to kilometer, carries a message. “A sentence is put in, which reflects the spirit of each edition. The idea is that it is carried from hand to hand, and that it crosses as many territories as possible across Brittany. It is then révélé à Nantesà l’arrivée ».

Pour carry the batonyou must have purchased a kilometer, alone or with others. The selling price of one kilometer is 120 € for individuals, 150 € for associations, 200 € for businesses and craftsmen, and 300 € to 500 € for businesses depending on their number of employees.
