The suspense was thin, it has now been lifted. Arriving in Lens on Wednesday evening with a six-point lead, only two games left to play, and a significantly favorable goal difference, Paris Saint-Germain needed just one point to secure the title in Ligue 1. Mission accomplished, with a victory at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium, despite a strong performance from Lens.

This is the 14th French championship title for Parisians, who first experienced this joy in 1986. After a second title in 1994, the arrival of QSI in 2011 allowed the capital club to grow in stature and stack up trophies, with 12 titles in 15 seasons. Only Montpellier (2012), Monaco (2017), and Lille (2021) have managed to halt Parisian dominance over the years.

Since 2022, Paris Saint-Germain has been unbeatable. Their fans can now celebrate the 5th consecutive national title, bringing them closer to the record set by Olympique Lyonnais, unbeatable between 2002 and 2008 with seven consecutive titles.

In the overall Ligue 1 trophy count, PSG is indeed at the top with its 14 titles. Following are Saint-Étienne, stuck at ten and hoping to dream again if they are promoted through the Ligue 2 playoffs, Marseille (9), Nantes, and Monaco (8 each). These clubs all expect to see the gap widen due to the outrageous dominance of the capital club on the national stage.
