The Pink Funky Weekend, highlighting hip-hop and funk culture, returns to Toulouse for its tenth edition during Ascension Week. Visit several performance halls in the city for six days.
Often reduced to clichés, funk culture never ceases to break the codes. Every year for ten years, it has been celebrated for a few days in Toulouse, in different cultural places, on the occasion of the Pink Funky Weekend. This year, the festival returns from May 12 to 17.
Democratizing funk culture
For its tenth edition, the Pink Funky Weekend pursues a clear objective: “to bring together different audiences, from all generations, to democratize funk and hip-hop culture”, explains Fanny Léon, co-organizer of the festival.

“In 2025, we welcomed 2,000 people; this year, we expect 3,000! Over the years, we realize that culture is taking hold. Even if, at the start, it was a niche festival, it is opening up more and more to the general public. And often, people who think they don’t know how to dance are surprised themselves,” she smiles. Around thirty volunteer artists take part in this collective adventure, where we don’t just listen to music. Because yes, in this festival, we are also dancers for one night!
A program across the city
Always in the spirit of accessibility to all populations, the festival takes place in several places in the city. “It’s an opportunity for everyone to come and discover us,” says Fanny. So on Tuesday May 12, come to L’Astronef from 7 p.m. for a concert followed by a 100% female DJ set. On Wednesday May 13, the festival will begin with a conference on the history of funk which will be held at the Flashback Café at 7 p.m., followed by an introduction to dance and a DJ set until the end of the night, on the eve of the public holiday.
“For Thursday the 14th, we are meeting the public at Taquin from 7 p.m., where they will be able to attend a new conference before a music and dance jam and a DJ set,” continues Fanny. And Friday is the big night of the festival with concerts from 8 p.m. at the Metronum. On the bill: Lucas Granel followed by his famous group Abdul and the Gang. “And the last day of Saturday is reserved from 5 p.m. for battles, where groups from all over the world – Spain, China, Sweden, England – will compete. Then in the evening, it’s time for the closing party until 3 a.m..”
Note that only Wednesday and Friday evenings are chargeable between 9 and 11€, “the rest is completely free,” concludes Fanny.
A family finale
To reach all generations, the festival ends on Sunday with a brunch.family day“Organized on the esplanade of the Raymond-VI garden, a friendly moment to prolong the funk spirit with the family.
