Sarah Jauzion and Cindy Guyon, who have a 17-year age difference, met at work and have been almost inseparable for the past three years. In June next year, they will participate in the Corsica Raid Femina as “La Sudiste et la Bretonne”. Behind this sports challenge lies a story of friendship, regained trust, and self-improvement.
“I wanted to change her mindset, give her back her confidence. So I said to her: let’s do it, let’s go.” When Sarah Jauzion talks about the birth of their project, it seems like it all started on a whim. However, behind this spontaneous decision lies a deeply human adventure.
From June 23 to 27, the 23-year-old Sarah Jauzion will participate in the Corsica Raid Femina with her friend and colleague Cindy Guyon, 40. A women-only multisport challenge organized in Corsica, combining trail running, mountain biking, kayaking, canyoning, orienteering, and rope exercises. But for the two women, the real challenge goes far beyond sports. “Cindy is going through a complicated divorce. I knew that this adventure could do her good,” says Sarah.
The two women met three years ago in Nantes, where they work in the hospitality industry. They quickly bonded over their love for sports. Their duo, named “La Sudiste et la Bretonne”, perfectly reflects their story: Sarah, born in Castres before moving to Nantes; and Cindy, originally from Brittany. Despite a 17-year age gap, they both have a strong desire to push themselves together.
“We saw videos of the Corsica Raid Femina on Instagram and we thought: why not us?” Sarah smiles. “What we liked is that it’s not just a running race. It’s diverse, physical, but above all, very human.”
Founded over twenty years ago by Femina Adventure, the Corsica Raid Femina brings together hundreds of participants each year around self-improvement and solidarity. The event also supports the La Marie Do association. “Like many people today, we are affected in some way by cancer,” explains Sarah. “So, it gave even more meaning to the project.”
For several weeks now, their daily lives revolve around training and fundraising. To participate in the raid, the duo needs to raise nearly 6,000 euros. “We started a bit last minute,” Sarah admits with a laugh. “But we have already collected 3,400 euros, so it’s huge!” Sponsors, posters, support events, contacting companies, social media communication – the two friends are taking numerous initiatives. “Even two euros can help us,” emphasizes Sarah. “It’s the small donations that keep the project moving forward.”
Between Sarah’s crossfit training and Cindy’s trail running sessions, the two women are experiencing an incredible chain of solidarity. “Honestly, this adventure is already bringing us a lot,” Sarah smiles. “I promised her that it would change her mindset, and ultimately, it’s changing both of us.”
In June, amidst the Corsican mountains, “La Sudiste et la Bretonne” will seek much more than a finish line: a pause, a fresh start, and perhaps, “a beautiful revenge on life.”
