This was an express request from players with a card RDNA 3 et RDNA 2AMD will have maintained silence, this silence which had triggered the discontent then the resignation of these same customers. Worse still, those who have an RDNA 3 card and who know that the latter have units dedicated to work on AI, the Matrix Accelerator, understood even less…! In addition, software such as OptiScaler allowed an injection of FSR 4 into INT8, which was better than nothing and worked not too badly for these past generation cards.
Finally, AMD worked in silence, even if it meant confronting and hearing the revolt without ever responding to it, but it was decided that the FSR 4.1 would be compatible, in version INT8 on the RX 6000 and RX 7000. The RX 9000 cards doing FSR 4 in FP8. Please note, however, that the thing is not available at the time of writing these lines…: we will have to wait until July 2026 to see, via a driver most certainly, FSR 4.1 arrive on RDNA 3 cards, and early 2027 for RDNA 2 cards. These customers will in any case be able to benefit from much better upscaling quality than the FSR 3.1, which served well but which could not compete with Intel and NVIDIA in the segment of detail reproduction fidelity and ghosting. It’s finally real good news, even if we’ll have to be a little more patient, but since it’s official, customers will be able to breathe!
