Ready to settle down in the Garden State, but not sure where to go?

U.S. News & World Report has released its findings of Best Places to live in New Jersey for 2026-2027.

The multifaceted digital media company combed through cities across the state using data sourced from U.S. Census Bureau, Department of Commerce, the Federal Reserve and the Bureau of Economic Analysis, to find which New Jersey town offers the best for families.

The list includes 14 cities that qualified for the rankings that were categorized into the four indexes that included good value, desirable place to live, strong job market and a high quality of life.

There are many places and things to love about New Jersey. The Garden State has a lively arts scene, rich musical heritage and popular entertainment options, including the Atlantic City boardwalk and casinos. Here are the top three cities and results:

Clifton: No. 1

This regional commercial hub for North Jersey has a population of 89,920. Renters here have a Median Monthly Rent of $1,460 Median Home Value: $463,020 and Median Household Income $105,422. Overall score stands at 5.6.

Jersey City: No. 2

Jersey City is a major financial hub and has a large population of 316,669 residents with Median Home Values around $564,000. Locals here have a Median Household Income of close to $104,000. The median monthly rent is $1,764. Jersey City overall score is 5.2 according to the report.

Bayonne: No. 3

Bayonne is the third Best Place to Live in New Jersey with an 5.1 overall score. This peninsula has a population of 71,720. The Median Home Value is over $464,000, Median Household Income is $85,389 and the Median Monthly Rent: $1,456
