Despite a high-speed chase by a Justice police officer early May 14, a burglar got away with $824 from a gaming machine at Joey’s Red Hots, 7830 Frontage Road.

An officer on patrol saw a white Acura leaving the parking lot at 4:09 a.m., then noticed broken glass beside the front door, which had been propped open with a planter.

The Acura sped west on Frontage Road, then north on Oak Grove Avenue from 76th Place. The officer gave chase.

The officer tried to stop the vehicle at Blazer Avenue and Frontage Road, but the driver of the Acura refused to pull over, police said.

The Acura headed north on Archer toward Summit, then east on Archer into Chicago.

The officer ended the pursuit because the Acura was being driven recklessly at high speed, police said.

The officer returned to the restaurant and found three gaming machines damaged and one cash box missing.

The box contained $824, according to the owner.

The officer got the license plate. The 2003 Acura is registered to a Burbank resident and was reported stolen May 13, police said.
