The site welcomes its members and beneficiaries this Wednesday, May 27 from 1:30 p.m. for an afternoon of workshops, discoveries and discussions.

An afternoon of culinary sharing in Millau. The Jardin du Chayran, in partnership with Secours catholique, is hosting this Wednesday, May 27, a half-day of activities and meetings for beneficiaries of solidarity baskets and people receiving vegetables during distributions.

After a welcome coffee and an introductory word from the organizers, participants will be able to choose between several workshops. A group working in the kitchen will prepare a shared end-of-day snack, while another workshop will provide a better understanding of the real cost of our food. A third discussion session will be devoted to discovering Social Food Security (SSA).

The youngest will not be forgotten with a dedicated activity around the vegetable garden and aromatic plants.

Discussing food and integration

The afternoon will continue with a guided tour of the garden, a photo exhibition as well as several stands run by the event’s partners. The snack, prepared during the cooking workshop, will then be shared between participants, volunteers and partners in order to end the day in a convivial moment.

Organized as part of Solidarity Food Day, the event will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Jardin du Chayran site, in the Fontenay district, north of Millau.

Le Jardin du Chayran is a professional transition project which supports people far from employment towards a sustainable return to work thanks to organic market gardening. The structure employs more than sixty employees each year on transition courses or who have recently arrived in France.

The vegetables grown on the nine hectares of the site are then distributed to a network of more than 250 members through several drop-off points spread across South Aveyron.
