New PlayStation monitor now up for grabs
This new PlayStation monitor features a 27-inch IPS panel with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440. On the PC side, the display supports refresh rates of up to 240Hz, though PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro users will be limited to a maximum of 120Hz. The monitor also supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to help reduce screen tearing, alongside HDR support for improved contrast and highlights. PS5 users additionally get access to Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which automatically adjusts HDR settings during setup to optimize image quality across supported games.
A notable feature that makes this monitor stand out from the many other 27-inch QHD gaming displays on the market is its built-in controller charging dock. It’s neatly hidden at the back of the display, and it folds down to provide a convenient resting spot for your controller. It even charges the gamepad while being stored, so it’s always powered up and ready to go. It’s a simple yet practical addition, which ensures you’re not leaving your controller on a desk or connecting to a separate charging accessory. You can store it directly on the monitor and have it charge at the same time. That means your controller stays out of the way and should be ready to go the next time you sit down to play.
As for the port selection, you’ll find two HDMI 2.1 inputs and a DisplayPort 1.4 connection for hooking up consoles and PCs, along with two USB-A ports and a USB-C port for accessories and peripherals. The monitor also includes built-in speakers if you don’t have a dedicated audio setup, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack for connecting a headset or external speakers. Sony has also included VESA mount support, giving users the option to attach it to a monitor arm or wall mount instead of using the included stand.
