Expect another round of evening showers and storms for the Gulf Coast
Widespread rain and a few evening thunderstorms remain in the forecast Saturday evening.
KNOW, WENT ON TO SAY THAT HE BOUGHT THIS BIKE. >> JUST FOR THIS AT LEAST WEATHER CERTIFIED MOST ACCURATE. I THOUGHT I WAS A SUPER FAN DEDICATION RIGHT THERE, 1200 MILES ON A BIKE. NOT GOING TO DO THAT. NOW I CAN PLAY IF I JUST WALK A MILE OR SOME 1200 MILES. AND IF YOU’VE BEEN WALKING AROUND HERE ACROSS THE GULF COAST, IT HAS BEEN ONE OF THOSE HOT AND STEAMY AFTERNOONS HERE ACROSS THE AREA. AND BECAUSE OF THAT, WE’RE SEEING SOME SHOWERS AND STORMS BEGIN TO DEVELOP. WE ARE TRACKING THE HEAVIEST OF THE SHOWERS INTO NORTHEAST DESOTO. COUNTY HAS PROMPTED A SPECIAL WEATHER ADVISORY AND THAT’S JUST ONE LEVEL, WILLOW. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING. WE ARE SEEING THE BUT THE POSSIBILITY OF SOME HEAVY DOWNPOURS, WINDS, MAYBE AN EXCESS OF LOT, 50 MILES PER HOUR. MAYBE EVEN THE OPPORTUNITY FOR I WOULD PEA SIZE HAIL LOOKS AS THOUGH THIS IS ALREADY BEGINNING TO SOMEWHAT WIND DOWN RIGHT NOW AND IT’S BEGINNING TO EXPAND. AND THE INTENSITY IS ALREADY BEGINNING TO SOMEWHAT SUBSIDE. >> AS YOU MOVE A LITTLE BIT MORE TOWARD THE SOUTH, INCREASING ENERGY HERE JUST TOWARD I WOULD SAY SOUTH OF THAT SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT WHEN SHOCK ME THIS BECAME A SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT HERE IN THE NEXT FEW MINUTES, A LOT OF LIGHTNING ASSOCIATED WITH THIS AS WELL AS WE MOVE A LITTLE BIT MORE INTO LEE COUNTY BEGINNING TO SEE THAT SHOWER AND THAT THUNDERSTORM THAT WAS RIGHT OVER THE BOULEVARD THAT IS CONTINUE TO SIT RIGHT INTO THE SAME AREA. SO WE’RE GETTING SOME RAIN RETURNS AND SOME HEAVY RAIN, ESPECIALLY RIGHT HERE NEAR THE BUCKINGHAM AREA. YOU SEE LEE BOULEVARD RIGHT HERE GETTING INTO A LOT OF RAIN. AND AS WE TRACK THE RAIN REACH HERE ACROSS LEE BOULEVARD, ANYWHERE FROM ONE TO MAYBE EVEN 3 INCHES PER HOUR. AND IF THE CITY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, SO WOULDN’T SHOCK ME IF WE MAYBE RACKED UP ABOUT 2 INCHES WORTH OF RAIN. NOW, WE’RE ALSO BEGINNING TO SEE SOME OF THAT SHOWERS BEGINNING TO MOVE A LITTLE BIT MORE TOWARD THE EAST. AND AS WE GET LATER ON IN THE EVENING, WE WILL SEE THE SHOWERS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST COURTESY OF THOSE WESTWARD WINDS. NOW AS WE GET LATER ON INTO THE EVENING, THERE IS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE FEW LITTLE SHOWERS MAYBE EVEN STICK AROUND JUST BEYOND OUR SUNSET. BUT THE VAST TEAM FOR TONIGHT IS AS WE GET LATER ON INTO THE NIGHT, WE’LL SEE THOSE SHOWERS THAT WE’RE TRACKING RIGHT NOW. SUBSIDE AS WE GET LATER ON INTO TONIGHT. SO AS WE GET, I WOULD SAY RIGHT AROUND THE 10 O’CLOCK HOUR, THAT MAY BE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS POPPING UP ACROSS THE AREA. BUT I DO THINK MOST OF US HERE ACROSS THE GULF COAST ARE GOING TO BE DRY, ESPECIALLY HERE ALONG THE COAST. THOSE WESTERN WINDS ARE PUSHING THE SHOWER ACTIVITY JUST EAST OF I-75 ANYWHERE BETWEEN MAYBE A TRACE OF RAIN AND MAYBE JUST OVER IN CERTAIN SECTIONS HERE ACROSS THE AREA. AS WE LOOK TOWARD THE NEXT 7 DAYS, WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO SEE AS TYPICAL SUMMERTIME PATTERN HERE ACROSS THE GULF COAST. RAIN CHANCES ANYWHERE FROM 30 TO 40%. BUT WHAT’S MOST CERTAINLY YOU’RE GOING TO FEEL ARE GOING TO BE THOSE TEMPERATURES. LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURES OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO SEE HIGHS INTO THE LOWER TO MID 90’S. AND LOOK AT THAT. BY WEDNESDAY. WE’RE GOING TO BE TRACKING TEMPERATURES INTO THE MID 90’S. THAT’S NOT EVEN INCLUDING SOME OF THE HEAT INDEX VALUES. AND LOOK AT THIS. HE DID THE HEAT INDEX VALUES OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS ARE MOST CERTAINLY GOING TO BE WARM THURSDAY. THINGS, THOUGH, THAT NUMBER DID POP UP. BUT THAT WAS 107. SO IT IS GOING TO BE VERY WARM HERE ACROSS THE GULF COAST. MAKE SURE YOU’RE TAKING PLENTY OF BREAKS, MAKE SURE GETTING A LOT OF FLUIDS IN YOUR SYSTEM AS WELL. YOU DON’T WANT COME TO ANY HEAT ILLNESSES. SO THE NEXT FEW DAYS WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO SEE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE SHOWERS BEGINNING TO POP UP, ESPECIALLY AS WE GET TOWARD THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS. BUT TAKE NOTICE A LOT OF THE ACTIVITY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO THE RAIN RIGHT HERE INTO THE CENTRAL SECTIONS HERE ACROSS THE GULF COAST, NOT RELEASING A LOT OF RAIN HERE ALONG THE COAST. IT DOESN’T MEAN THAT WE WON’T RAIN ALONG THE COAST. IT JUST SHOWS YOU THAT THE MOST FAVORABLE LOCATIONS FOR THE HEAVIEST AMOUNT OF RAIN DOES APPEAR TO BE RIGHT HERE INTO INTERIOR SECTIONS ACROSS THE GULF COAST. SO FOR TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE ANOTHER HOT, HUMID DAY AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND WILL CERTAINLY WANT TO BE IN PLAY. BUT THE RAIN IS GOING TO FAVOR OUR INLAND SECTIONS FOR TOMORROW. IT’S GOING TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT WE CAN SPEND. THAT MAY BE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SOME RAIN MAYBE EARLIER IN THE DAY ALONG THE COAST. BUT AS THOSE WEST WINDS BEGIN TO KICK IN, THE FOCUS OF THE RAIN IS GOING TO BE RIGHT HERE INTO INTERIOR SECTIONS HERE ACROSS THE AREA. PLACES LIKE LABELLE AND CLEWISTON CAN BE GETTING INTO SOME BENEFICIAL RAIN. QUICK LOOK AT THE TROPICS. WE’RE ONLY TRACKING THIS AREA. BROUGHT LOW PRESSURE, VERY LOW CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT F

Expect rain and a few thunderstorms Saturday evening. Scattered to widespread rain is expected for metro sections of the Gulf Coast Saturday night, with a few pockets of localized flooding possible. Overnight, most of the rain and coverage will begin to fade. A similar pattern will also be in place Sunday with a mostly dry start, but by the afternoon, rain and a few thunderstorms will begin to develop. With a stronger gulf breeze in place, the focus of the storms will favor areas east of Interstate 75. This will settle after the sun begins to set. As the week progresses, winds will become more westerly, which will help to move rain toward inland sections across the Gulf Coast.
