The declaration came hours after Donald Trump assured that “the entire Iran could be destroyed in one night.”
The Iranian army dismissed on Monday, April 6, the “arrogant rhetoric” of US President Donald Trump – who had stated that “the entire Iran could be destroyed in one night” – by asserting that it had “no effect” on its operations.
“The gross and arrogant rhetoric, as well as the unfounded threats of the ranking American president, who is in a deadlock and justifies the successive defeats of the American army, have no effect on the continuation of the offensive and overwhelming operations of the Iranian army,” declared the spokesman for Khatam Al-Anbiya, the command of the Iranian armed forces, as quoted by state television.
The American president had previously stated that the army could destroy Iranian bridges and power plants in four hours if the Islamic Republic did not unblock the Ormuz – a maritime route in the Gulf through which a fifth of the world’s crude oil usually flows – by Tuesday 8:00 p.m. Washington time (midnight GMT Wednesday).
Donald Trump is not “worried” about the risk of committing war crimes
The day before, he had threatened to strike Iranian energy facilities and bridges if the Islamic Republic did not unblock the Ormuz by Tuesday 8:00 p.m. Washington time (midnight GMT Wednesday).
On the 38th day of the war, which has caused several thousand deaths in the Middle East, the Israeli-American offensive targeted Iranian energy infrastructures on Monday, with Donald Trump stating that the Iranians supported the “continued strikes” and that they were “ready to suffer” to bring down the current regime.
A few hours earlier, when asked by a journalist about his threat to destroy power plants, he had affirmed that he was not “worried” about the risk of committing war crimes.
