Thermalright is primarily known for its PC cooling solutions and cases, but last year the company appeared to want to diversify its portfolio with mini-PC devices. At Computext 2025, Thermalright showed off several concepts for mini-PCs powered by AMD processors, and one of the prototypes featured a liquid cooling solution. The goal was to mass produce some of these models, but the company has not made an official launch announcement since. Today, Thermalright released specifications for its first mass-produced liquid-cooled mini-PC, dubbed the AI HydroNous R1.

This new model is different from anything presented last year at Computex. First of all, the 2.6 liter case has a vertical orientation clearly emphasized by the 4.6 inch LCD screen included with the Thermalright Control Center functions. This helps maximize the efficiency of the water cooling solution with 180mm fans that utilize the larger surface area of the side panels to increase airflow.

In addition, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 at the heart of this model has been modified to operate with a maximum TDP of 176 W, up from 120 W as standard. Thermalright seems to have found a way to safely push the processor beyond its factory limits thanks to its system Premium water cooling While the integrated Radeon 8060S processor was already a decent 1080p gaming solution by default, the extra power should provide a considerable boost in gaming, and CPUs and NPUs could see it as well. a significant increase in performance in compute workloads.

Exact RAM and storage specifications have not been revealed. It can be assumed that Thermalright will use the default 128 GB of RAM and at least 2 TB of storage. The port selection isn’t visible in any of the teaser images, but the ITHome article mentions a dual USB4 port and 10GbE and 2.5GbE network cards. Availability and exact pricing will be revealed later.
