On Instagram, singer Stromae posted a cover of the song “Spinning Globe” by Kenshi Yonezu, from the soundtrack of “Le Garçon et le Héron.”

“It’s been a few months that I’ve been learning this song and I wanted to share it with you.” On Instagram, in a video posted on Monday, March 23, the singer Stromae reveals his cover, in Japanese, of the song Spinning Globe, by artist Kenshi Yonezu.

A piece taken from the soundtrack of the Studio Ghibli animated film “Le Garçon et le Héron,” directed by Hayao Miyazaki and released in 2003. From a studio and in front of his microphone, Stromae covers the piece in his own way, with his recognizable style.

This is sure to delight his 2.2 million subscribers on this social network, where he hadn’t posted anything since last November. Fans are doubly pleased to see the artist back in the studio, three years after interrupting his Multitude tour.

Rare appearances

After about thirty shows in 2022 and 2023, the artist was forced to cancel some of his concert dates for medical reasons. “I have to accept the fact that unfortunately my health does not allow me to continue to come and meet you for now. I have to listen to my limits,” Stromae wrote in a statement.

“Surrounded by my family, I need to take the time to recover to resume, when I can, the rest of the concerts,” he added. “I hope to give you more positive news as soon as possible. I look forward to seeing you again.”

Since then, the singer has made rare appearances. In late 2024, Stromae released a new song, “Ma Meilleure Ennemie,” in a duet with Pomme for the soundtrack of the final season of the series Arcane on Netflix. The year before, he unveiled “Que ce soit clair,” another song with DJ Paul Kalkbrenner.

More recently, the artist returned to the stage, alongside Orelsan, on Thursday, March 12. Together, they performed “La Pluie,” their duet, before celebrating Stromae’s 41st birthday with the crowd.
