A prototype reveals the existence of the Nvidia N1 SoC intended for future powerful laptop PCs.

Tl;dr

  • A motherboard prototype reveals the possible existence of the Nvidia N1 SoC, intended for future high-end laptops or tablets.
  • The design suggests a powerful chip accompanied by plenty of RAM and an advanced cooling system, suggesting strong technical ambitions.
  • Nvidia is thus preparing its more aggressive entry into the processor market, in direct competition with Intel, AMD and Qualcomm.

A big card prototype reveals their future Nvidia N1 CPU

It seems that the PC processor market is about to experience a new shake-up. An ad, which appeared on the Chinese resale platform Goofish, recently attracted attention: a prototype motherboard equipped with the mysterious Nvidia N1 SoC. According to information shared by the user Ruby_Rapids and relayed by the specialized site Wccftechit would be an engineering sample intended for future laptops, or even tablets.

A design that hints at Nvidia’s ambitions

According to the details visible on the announcement, the N1 processor, the imposing central component of the card, is surrounded by eight RAM modules totaling 128 GB. Added to this are two M.2 slots, an integrated Wi-Fi chip as well as HDMI, USB-C and audio jack ports. The large space provided on the card suggests a radial fan cooling system (“blower”), in order to dissipate the heat generated by this new SoC, placed under a heat sink.

The motherboard priced at around 1400 dollars nevertheless seems to be offered as an indication; this price probably does not reflect its final value.

Nvidia advances its pawns against Intel and AMD

This is not the first time that rumors have circulated around a more outspoken foray of Nvidia in the consumer PC processor sector. Moreover, the CEO Jensen Huang recently confirmed the development of new chips in partnership with MediaTek. The stated objective? Equipping a new generation of PCs, in particular thinner and more powerful gaming laptops, but also directly competing with the major offers of the moment: the Intel Core Ultra Series 3, AMD Ryzen AI 400 series or even the recent Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite processors.

To summarize, here is what this leak could portend:

  • The rapid arrival of the Nvidia N1 SoC on the market.
  • Opening up to more compact but powerful machines.
  • The imminent intensification of competition between the main players in the sector.

Between caution and impatience while waiting for officialization

However, let’s be careful: the authenticity of this leak has not been confirmed. It could be that this is just an isolated prototype or even an early marketing maneuver. But if these clues prove to be correct, the battle over new PC processors may well reach a new milestone in the months to come. All eyes therefore remain on the next offensive signed Nvidia.
