Celine Dion fans did not hesitate to rush to the pre-sales of her upcoming concert series this fall. Many expected ticket prices to range from 89.50 to 298.50 euros, but the reality turned out to be quite different at the time of purchase. Some were surprised and quickly became frustrated when faced with significantly higher amounts than anticipated. “The prices for Celine Dion are a big joke …. Two category 3 tickets for 1500 euros… Dynamic pricing is a real poison!”, exclaimed one internet user on X. The issue at hand is ‘dynamic pricing’, a system that adjusts prices based on demand. While legal in France for live performances, it should be clearly communicated to buyers. This lack of transparency has fueled debate. According to an expert consulted by Pure Charts, the information was not adequately visible during the ticket sales for the Canadian singer’s tour. This situation has sparked anger among fans, who feel they were misled at the time of purchase.
Celine Dion in Paris: prices, fans’ anger – investigation launched
On Friday, April 10, 2026, FranceInfo announced the opening of an investigation conducted under the authority of the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control (DGCCRF). The aim is to shed light on the discrepancies between advertised prices and what some consumers actually paid. This situation quickly caught the attention of authorities in a tense online ticketing environment. In a statement relayed by the media, the DGCCRF reminds that “if there is a difference between the advertised price and the price actually paid by the consumer, it may be considered deceptive, influencing the purchase decision”. The institution is already aware of these practices and states that “an investigation is underway in the online ticket sales sector to verify the fairness of professionals’ commercial practices”.
AXS ticketing defends itself amid controversy
In response, AXS, one of the official ticketing platforms implicated by the DGCCRF, claims that Celine Dion’s concerts generated an “unprecedented” demand. The platform explains that the price discrepancies observed by several internet users in videos on social media were due to a “temporary glitch” affecting the cache system and certain third-party tools used during the sale, not an intentional price hike. Once the issue was identified, their technical teams quickly intervened to correct the malfunction. They also mentioned that affected buyers were contacted directly to try to resolve the situation. While awaiting the investigation’s findings, the ticketing service advises customers to be patient, while fans of the singer can look forward to another highly anticipated event: the release of her new single on April 17.
