On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the Popular University of Transitions in Terres d’Argentan returns. This time at the town hall of Argentan, at 7:30 pm on the theme “Social Innovations: Can they really shake up established principles.”
“After a first season devoted to understanding socio-environmental issues and a second highlighting cooperations to be implemented, UPT focuses on innovations that allow anticipating, cushioning, or accelerating the necessary transitions to ‘live in a satisfying environment for all’ during this third season.”
“In Argentan, the popular university of transitions presents initiatives that can change people’s lives like communal mutuals, social food security, local currencies, and cooperatives with new modes of organization, consumption, and cooperation that rarely make headlines but can make a real impact.”
“Everywhere, citizens, associations, local authorities, and businesses are inventing new responses to essential needs like housing, food, aging support, environment protection, and fighting against exclusion.”
“And if innovation is fundamentally social above all? How can we be inspired by new imaginaries and ideas more compatible with future challenges? With what results?”
“Cyril Dion will be the keynote speaker of this evening. The writer, director, poet, and environmental activist engaged in 2006 alongside Pierre Rabhi and participated in creating the Colibris movement, aiming to create an ecological and supportive society by favoring individual and collective action.”
“He gained public recognition in 2014 by directing with Melanie Laurent the documentary film ‘Tomorrow’ which won a César and had international success. Other films followed like ‘Animal’ in 2021 addressing the mass extinction of many species, or the TV series ‘A New World’ on Arte. Cyril Dion also took part in the Citizens’ Convention on Climate and was a notable columnist on ‘La Terre au Carré’ on France Inter.”
“Recently, he launched the project ‘Imagine tomorrow, let’s create films to take action!'”
“Local guests include Marie Panayoti from the Local Food Bank of Flers Agglo, Etienne Lemoine, architect, founder of the MWAH agency, designer of the Ginette-Kolinka primary school in the Vallée d’Auge district of Argentan, and William Petipas, member of the Alterfixe collective working on agricultural projects respectful of living beings.”
“The event will take place on April 14, 2026, at 7:30 pm, at the Rotenburg hall, Town Hall of Argentan. Free entry. It can be listened to on replay on the Terres d’Argentan Interco Youtube channel. Upcoming dates include May 18 and June 18 with different topics and speakers.”
