Quarter-final explosive, this Sunday in Bordeaux, between the defending champions from Bordeaux and the French champions. A match that two Toulousains have never lost when they start together.

For the past five years, the clashes between Union Bordeaux-Bègles and Stade Toulousain have become a classic, both in the Top 1 and on the European stage. So much so that the relocations are numerous and the reigning triple champions of France have not set foot on the pitch of the Chaban-Delmas stadium since September 4, 2022. The Toulousains were victorious 26-25, with their full arsenal, including obviously Antoine Dupont and Thomas Ramos. Who have never lost a match against UBB when they start together!

Since 2021, Toulouse has indeed always won this encounter when played at home or on neutral ground: Top 14 semi-final in Lille (24-21) in 2021, Top 14 finals in Marseille (59-3) in 2024 and at Stade de France (39-33 a.p.) in 2025. Conversely, except for the defeat in September 2022, UBB has won all the matches played in Bordeaux.

“Those are the data that say that, but we’ve all experienced a first time in our adult lives…” – Yannick Bru, manager of UBB.

In the last three seasons, the two teams have faced each other each time at… Stade Atlantique. With four Bordeaux successes: three in Top 14, at the end of the Six Nations Tournament, when Toulouse gives its internationals a break, and once in the Champions Cup semi-final in May 2025… without Thomas Ramos and Antoine Dupont, injured.

With their two key players finally starting simultaneously, Toulouse cannot lose. “It makes you want to forfeit,” joked UBB manager Yannick Bru. “Those are the data that say that, but we’ve all experienced a first time in our adult lives. I hope this will be a first…”
