The arcade at home
We are therefore totally in the DNA of the Milanese studio: racing. This reboot of this long-forgotten series, however, adds a very successful atmosphere, carried in particular by magnificent cinematic scenes which add a storyline to the game. We follow several characters and groups in a fairly dark story. The game is heavily inspired by gang wars between bikers and the common thread will be the revenge project of a group called Green Reapers after the murder of their former leader.
Without revolutionizing anything, the story of Screamer is a significant asset and the quality of its cinematics is no stranger to it. They are accompanied by a very successful artistic direction which enhances the part that will interest us from now on: the race.
Heir to a long tradition of arcade games, Screamer is a nervous title, where speed prevails over realism. However, it offers a very accessible experience with very dynamic and spectacular races, all in varied environments. Screamer always chooses efficiency with quick, almost instinctive handling, and driving focused both on drifting and brutal acceleration. In short, everyone will be able to take it in hand while having fun every time (or almost).
The circuits are designed to maintain constant tension with both tight turns and long straight lines conducive to peak speeds. The game also introduces some subtleties, such as boost management or interactions between pilots, which bring a little depth without weighing down the experience. If simulation purists will inevitably be left wanting more, fans of immediate fun will largely find what they’re looking for.
Une vibe Burnout
With a proposition that differs from what other games in the genre offer, Screamer establishes itself as a solid proposition in the landscape of arcade racing games. Without revolutionizing the genre, it seduces with the effectiveness of its gameplay and careful staging, supported by quality cinematics. A formula which, without being new, remains sufficiently mastered to convince thrill-seekers and those nostalgic for the mythical Burnout.
