Marlene Monteiro Freitas, winner of the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale, presented at the Autumn Festival in Paris, honored at the Avignon Festival, showcased at the Lyon Dance Biennale, continues to surprise and enchant audiences around the world. Her latest creation “NƗT,” which means “night” in Cape Verdean Creole, is a grand fresco with subtle details, uninterrupted movements, changing and captivating spaces.
Every evening, the eight dancers and musicians replay the duel between reality and desire, love and war, the grotesque and the sublime, alienation and freedom. A flamboyant and grotesque choreographic carnival where her signature grammar, made up of transformations, anxieties, and strangeness, is skillfully mixed with humor.
“NƗT” can be discovered on May 6 and 7, 2026, at the Maison de la Danse in Lyon.
