On Monday evening, the last match of the 30th day of the French Ligue 2 championship took place between Rodez Aveyron Football and ESTAC. A match that particularly interested the Verts.
The 30th day of Ligue 2 came to an end on Monday evening with the clash between Rodez and Troyes. AS Saint-Étienne was naturally very attentive to this top-of-the-table fixture in Ligue 2. Following their victory against Dunkerque on Saturday, ASSE had come back to within a point of the leaders, Troyes.
Troyes started the game perfectly with Martin Adeline opening the scoring after just three minutes. The first half was very balanced but Troyes led at halftime (0-1). After the break, there was significant pressure from Ruthénois who logically equalized before the hour mark thanks to Mathis Saka’s goal. RAF did not stop there and turned ESTAC around in the 72nd minute with Tairyk Arconte’s goal. The Troyes players were nervous, with El Idrissy being subbed on in the 87th minute and being sent off two minutes later after two successive yellow cards. No more goals were scored, Rodez defeated the leaders (2-1).
This result has consequences for Ligue 2, with the top of the table completely shaken up. The Verts are now only a point behind Troyes, while Rodez is level on points with the last playoff spot, Reims, with 48 points. The end of the season promises to be thrilling with a clash between ASSE and Troyes at Geoffroy-Guichard in less than two weeks.
