The Southern Region unveils a dense program for mid-June, centered around health, tourism, innovation and the 2030 Winter Games.
The press service of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region has communicated its agenda for the weeks of June 8 to 21, 2026, revealing a series of strategic meetings which confirm the community’s commitment on fronts as varied as security, culture, tourist attractiveness and major international sporting events.
Santé et sécurité en premier ligne
The week will begin on Tuesday June 9 at 11:15 a.m. in Aix-en-Provence with an expected communication on the « Plan Sécurité des soignants ». This press briefing should detail regional measures aimed at protecting health professionals, a major concern in the post-pandemic context.
The next day, Wednesday June 10 at 2 p.m. in Marseille, the emphasis will be placed on well-being through the presentation of the regional program “culture and health”. This initiative aims to strengthen links between the cultural and health sectors, by promoting access to art and culture for patients, residents of medical-social establishments and nursing staff, thus recognizing the role of culture as a vector of cohesion and well-being.
The attractiveness of the territory enhanced
On Tuesday June 16 at 1:45 p.m. in Marseille, the Region will highlight the living environment of its territory with an event dedicated to the label “Cities and villages in bloom”. This national distinction, which rewards municipalities for their efforts in improving the quality of life and greening strategy, constitutes an important lever for tourism and the image of the region.
Innovation and Olympic ambitions
The week will continue on the national and international stage. On Wednesday June 17, the Southern Region will be present in Paris for the VivaTech show, the largest European meeting for technology and innovation. This participation underlines the region’s ambition to position itself as a center of excellence in new technologies and to support its companies and start-ups.
Finally, a symbolic and highly anticipated moment will be held on Thursday June 18 in Briançon, in the Hautes-Alpes, with the unveiling of the emblems of the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The choice of this Alpine city for this major announcement marks a key step in the preparation of this event planetary, for which the Southern Region is a central actor.
