Thursday June 18, 2026, in front of a packed room at the Espace Charles Vanel, the city of Lagny-sur-Marne unveiled the program for its 2026/2027 cultural season. A selection rigorously thought out so that culture is accessible to all.
No less than 550 people had reserved their place. Despite a very high temperature, thehumorist Timothé Poissonnet, who we saw last year in France has incredible talentperformed. “What was difficult was the heat, but it was great to present this program which is really great,” he smiles. To introduce the different categories of cultural programming, he interspersed extracts from his show and texts written for the occasion.
Culture for all
“Our ambition is simple: make culture accessible to all and ensure that each and every one of you can find their place there,” declares Éloïse Foucault, deputy for Culture at the town hall of Lagny-sur-Marne, in preamble to the evening.
Discovering the programming for the 2026/2027 cultural season, we realize that there is indeed something for everyone: sixteen theater performances for young audiences and adults, a film concert, three festivals including one for urban arts and one for early childhood, a ballet and a hip-hop battle, five comedy events, music evenings, exhibitions…

Learn and question yourself through theater
If the programming wants to be varied for please all ages and tastessome strong themes emerge. In The meal of the wild animals, The song of the lions or even Just Irenawe will plunge into the middle of the Second World War, between resistance, self-sacrifice and individualism. The trial of a lifetime, which marked the history of women in France, will take us back to a not so distant era, when abortion was still prohibited. With these pieces, but also Two nothing, The last cedar of Lebanon, Black Gues or even Mulanthe fundamentals of individual freedoms, living together and sacrifice will be questioned.
This programming on the boards, where they intersect entertainment and general culturehas already won over the public. “I am amazed by the quality of the pieces that we will be able to see and the subjects covered,” explains Véronique, a Latignacian for 11 years, who is coming to attend the presentation of the cultural season for the first time. “For young people, it’s great, there are a lot of historical subjects, it’s always easier to learn through theater, like in the cinema,” adds Jean-François, who comes from Thorigny-sur-Marne.
Prices accessible to all
For greater accessibility, the prices offered are as varied as the selection of shows. The theater plays Blackfacesduring the European Heritage Days in September 2026, and Héritièreswhich will be created in residence in March 2027, are free and by reservation. This is also the case for the dance evening Back to basics.
Future work
For greater comfort, the Charles Vanel space will undergo major work by 2028/2029 in terms of air treatment, the stage, the square and the seats in particular. Discussions are ongoing. “The project is not completely finalized, so if any of you have ideas, don’t hesitate. We will also seek the public’s opinion,” announced Jean-Paul Michel, mayor of Lagny-sur-Marne, during the opening speech. During the work, the shows will be performed in other places in the city, such as the old fire station. “It will obviously not be the equivalent of Vanel, but we will find solutions so as not to lose you, because we are very happy with your loyalty,” he concludes.
The prices of the different shows then vary from €7.50 to €34, depending on the events, categories and special rates. Some enthusiasts immediately bought tickets on site. For others, ticketing is online.
