Nvidia reached a new milestone on the stock market, with a capitalization exceeding $5,000 billion after a record closing of its action at $208.27, up 4.3%. This performance comes against a backdrop of renewed enthusiasm for stocks linked to artificial intelligence, which strongly supports demand for the group’s graphics processors. Since the end of 2022, the stock has multiplied by more than 14, driven by the massive adoption of its technologies by the main players in the sector.
This progression is accompanied by a broader upward movement in the semiconductor industry, stimulated in particular by the results of Intel, whose stock has risen sharply. AMD and Qualcomm also benefited from this dynamic. After a period of volatility linked to geopolitical tensions and rising energy prices, major technology stocks are regaining momentum, supported by solid prospects in AI infrastructure.
The Nasdaq thus posted an increase of 15% over the month of April, on track to sign its best performance since 2020. Despite this favorable dynamic, Nvidia faces increased competition, in particular from Alphabet, which is developing its own chips for the cloud. This rivalry illustrates the intensification of investments in artificial intelligence technologies on a global scale.
