Video game Fortnite is offering a refund to players who purchased D4vd items following the singer’s charges in the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
The video game, which the singer used to launch his artistic career by posting clips of the game to his music, announced in a post on Sunday that it’s offering customers refunds for D4vd cosmetics.
“We hear the concerns,†Fortnite Status, the game’s official account for service updates, wrote in a social media post. “We have a bunch of changes we’re rolling out over time. The first one will be available on Tuesday April 28th, when anyone who purchased one of these items will be able to get an immediate self-service refund. And, right now, players who request refunds for D4vd cosmetics via player support can be refunded.â€
D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, was arrested earlier this month in connection with Hernandez’s death. He was then charged with first-degree murder and other crimes in the case.
The teenage girl’s remains were discovered last September in the trunk of a Tesla that was registered to Burke’s name. The body was found after the vehicle was impounded following a report that it was abandoned in the Hollywood Hills near a home that the Burke was residing in. Employees at the tow yard where the vehicle was taken reported a foul odor coming from the Tesla and reported it to law enforcement.
Burke is slated to return to court on May 1 for a preliminary hearing.
The attorneys for D4vd, the singer accused of killing 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, wants a preliminary hearing to happen next week. Eric Leonard reports for the NBC4 News at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
