The battle royale PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS offers a little change with a brand new temporary mode called “PAYDAY”, and clearly, we are moving away a little from the classics to enter a much more strategic vibe…
In fact, the mode PAYDAY, which will allow heists to be carried out, will be available for a fairly short period of time: namely from May 12 to June 10, 2026.
A fairly intriguing mode, because it is the result of a collaboration between Krafton et Starbreeze Entertainment (the creators of the famous PAYDAY franchise). Suffice to say that they know their stuff, and that this temporary mode smells like a well-organized heist.
A heist mode that changes everything
Here, forget about being the last player alive, because in PAYDAY, you play as a team with a simple objective:
- plan a heist
- récupérer le butin
- s’échapper vivant
But how you get there is where it gets interesting. Indeed, it is good to know that each player chooses a role at the start (Assault, Medic, Tank, Marksman or Ghost). Obviously, each role has skills, and the challenge will be to have good coordination, strategy and timing… it’s almost a tactical heist game more than a battle royale.
And on the ground side, it takes place in stylish urban environments like Diamond District or Nightclub, with varied objectives: safes, sensitive data or cash.

With PAYDAY, PUBG shows that it wants to go further than simple battle royale style gameplay by offering collaborations with studios and artists. But is this what players really want? Or would they prefer an update that improves frame rate and graphics, for example? The question remains!
