Brendan Greene, better known as PlayerUnknown, had been working for several years on his first major game since PUBGwith bigger plans in place. Unfortunately, the game, called Prologue : Go Waybackhas come to an end, and the studio appears to be facing major layoffs.
Through a message on Steam, PlayerUnknown Productions announced that they would be stopping development of Prologue: Go Wayback on Prologue : Go Wayback. The game was released in November of last year in Early Access, where it has remained until today. However, according to new developments, the studio will release the game from Early Access with a final update. This latest update will add new objects, paths and trails to explore.
In addition, the studio will make Prologue : Go Wayback will be free for all. He is also considering refunding those who have already purchased the game on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Although the details of these layoffs are unclear, Greene stated on X that it was a funding issue and that he had reached the limit of what he could do to fund the game in its current form. Like the first technical demo, Preface, Prologue : Go Wayback was supposed to be a showcase of the Melba technology that the studio has been working on since its creation. This work will continue, but with a smaller team.
