ESMOD Lyon and Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri have teamed up to create “Sortie d’atelier,” a unique capsule collection of upcycled jeans designed by students. This collaboration between contemporary design, circular economy, and professional integration showcases a new way to produce fashion that is more responsible, inclusive, and rooted in the local community. With a nod to Lyon’s history and the invention of cinema in Lyon.

The Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri collaborates with Esmod Lyon to bring to life a unique, committed, and creatively resolute collection: the “Sortie d’Atelier” collection.

Starting from over 700 second-hand jeans, 70 students have developed a 100% upcycled capsule collection, blending style and responsibility. The collection includes caps, bags, jackets, and shorts reimagined in denim patchwork.

The theme “Sortie d’atelier” pays tribute to Lyon’s heritage and the birth of the Lumière brothers’ cinema. It is a reference to the film “La Sortie de l’usine” directed by Louis Lumière in 1895, considered the first film in cinema history. Just as film editing was done with cut film strips, the patchwork pieces reassemble material to give it a new life.

An exclusive selection of pieces has been crafted in very limited quantities by individuals trained in sewing crafts, all in a process of returning to employment, with the support of Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri.

These quality, unique, and committed pieces can be found starting April 25th at La Friperie located in Lyon 1st. This stylish and supportive shop run by individuals in professional integration offers trendy second-hand textiles, combining social and circular economy. All proceeds will go to Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri to support its social actions.

An unmissable solidarity event:

– La Friperie by Le Foyer – Passage Thiaffait, 19 rue Leynaud, Lyon 1er – Saturday, April 25, 2026 – from 3 pm to 6 pm
