Fabienne Egal may have left the TV screens for years, but she remains very active on social media. It’s a way for her to stay connected with her loyal audience, even years after hosting “Tournez manège!” with Simone Garnier and the late Évelyne Leclercq. On her Facebook account, the former presenter, now 71, paid a heartfelt tribute to her colleague who passed away on December 30, 2025, from cancer.

“We were very close, always there for each other in the important moments of our lives. You let go last night… You’re not suffering anymore… I love you,” she wrote on social media, sharing an article announcing the death of her dear friend, who was 74 years old.

Fabienne Egal raised her voice on Facebook. On April 18, the former presenter expressed her frustration in a post, criticizing LCI’s coverage of the release of an 85-year-old French woman detained by U.S. immigration police amid a family dispute over her late American husband’s inheritance. Fabienne Egal found the title of the channel’s segment, “American Police Release a French Granny,” to be unacceptable, and she shared her outrage with her followers.

“No way this title! A FRENCH granny! Would we talk about a FRENCH grandpa? This friendly familiarity is unbearable… just like journalists who refer to parents as ‘mom and dad’ instead of mother and father. Who educated you?” she wrote, adding, “It’s condescending and disrespectful.”

Fabienne Egal’s stance received support from internet users after her outburst regarding the labelling of the octogenarian French woman as a “granny.” Many internet users were also outraged. Comments such as “Totally agree with you, Fabienne,” “Ridiculous, sexist, and ageist,” and “It’s like reducing the person to their age” were shared. This anger was echoed by her followers.
