The Museum of Niel offers a series of cultural events in May including classical music, contemporary dance, and oenology workshops.

With the arrival of May, the Museum of Niel in Hyères inaugurates its 2026 season, which will run until November 1st. For this first month of opening, the cultural institution has unveiled a rich and diverse program, blending arts and senses through three distinct events that will punctuate the end of spring. This eclectic offer confirms the museum’s ambition to establish itself as a must-see cultural hub.

Classical music and mime at the heart of the exhibitions

The first highlight will take place on Thursday, May 14, from 7pm to 8pm. As part of the Solliès-Pont Classical Music Festival, the museum will host an original concert combining piano and mime at the heart of its exhibition spaces. The audience will witness an unprecedented artistic dialogue between internationally renowned pianist Olga Jegunova and talented mime Benoît Turjman. This performance promises a sensory and poetic experience, where the notes of music blend with the expressiveness of gesture to enhance the surrounding artworks.

A Night of Museums focusing on contemporary dance

On Saturday, May 23, from 7pm to 9pm, the Museum of Niel will take part in the national event of the Night of Museums by offering an exceptional and free nighttime opening. This evening will be marked by a performance of DJ and dance by the Kubilaï Khan Investigations Company, under the direction of choreographer Frank Micheletti. Dancer Naoko Tozawa will perform to the sound of turntables as part of the Constellations Festival, a event dedicated to the performing arts. Visitors will be invited to a free roam, allowing them to discover this immersive performance both inside the museum’s halls and in the gardens, for an artistic exploration that blurs the boundaries between disciplines and spaces.

Mother’s Day celebrated with wine and chamber music

Sunday, May 31 will be dedicated to Mother’s Day, with two distinct proposals for a complete celebration.

From 11am, a oenology initiation will be held on the panoramic terrace of the museum’s restaurant, Le Mérou. Organized in partnership with the prestigious Domaine de la Courtade, this session will focus on the discovery of white wines. This is the first part of a tasting series that will continue in July with rosé and in October with red wines.

In the afternoon, from 3pm to 4pm, music will resonate in the bucolic setting of the garden. The public will be able to attend an intimate concert performed by pianist Ludmilla Bodo-Marchix and her son, the young and promising cellist Esteban. This family duo will present a musical program entirely dedicated to female composers, offering a moment of grace and emotion to conclude this month of festivities.

For all these events, the museum’s management specifies that reservations must be made directly online through the official ticket office.
