As part of the partnership between the Toy Social Club association and the Maison du Parc national et de la vallée de Luz-Saint-Sauveur, the film “Stronger Than Me” by director Kirk Jones will be broadcast this Sunday, May 3 at 8:30 p.m.
This film is a biopic about the life of John Davidson, a Scottish activist with Tourette’s syndrome. It begins in the 1980s when John develops this still largely unknown condition.
Between misunderstanding, stigmatization, and determination, his journey, initially full of obstacles, turns into a fight to be recognized for who he is, beyond prejudices. Faced with a body that defies the norms of silence and stillness, his environment oscillates between compassion and judgment. A chance encounter with a former nurse puts him on the path to acceptance and the struggle to exist with all the dignity he deserves.
Far from falling into miserabilism, the film is punctuated with comedic and luminous scenes, carried by the performance of Robert Aramayo.
This film sheds light on a lesser-known disability to the general public. To learn more about the film, visit the AlloCiné website.
