Catherine Collard wanted to meet Annie Girardot to express her admiration for her talent as an actress. This meeting led to a very open exchange about the similarities between the profession of actress and that of a musician, as well as the challenges unique to their artistic journeys. They also candidly discussed the difficult periods they had faced in their careers. To musically punctuate this program, Catherine Collard and Sonia Wieder-Atherton played in studio 119 at Maison de la Radio, performing the 1st movement of Johannes Brahms’s Sonata in E Minor op. 38, the finale of César Franck’s Sonata in A Major, the 2nd movement of Frédéric Chopin’s Sonata in G Minor op. 65, and an excerpt from Manuel de Falla’s Suite populaire espagnole.
