In the midst of the electroclash revival, Canadian producer Tiga Sontag, who experienced its origins, is making a major comeback in the industry.

The space-time of electronic music has finally shifted, and Montreal producer Tiga Sontag has carved out his own niche. Now 51 years old, he has been a stalwart figure in remixing and rave organizing for three decades, witnessing the evolution of electroclash from bloghouse to its recent opulent resurgence by artists like Charli XCX and The Dare, and more recently by Frost Children and Fcukers.

He is now returning to a genre where he helped define certain aesthetic codes: 80s retrofuturism, absurd and/or shamelessly sexual lyrics, all coupled with a certain sense of detachment.

Reconnecting with the genre’s original qualities, Tiga’s latest album “Hotlife” contains a wealth of electronic music history and unforgettable basslines. Collaborating with longtime friends like Boys Noize and newcomers like Priori and Patrick Holland from Montreal, as well as the New York duo Fcukers, Tiga showcases the essence of the genre on his fourth album.

The single “Silk Scarf,” shared with Fcukers, exemplifies what’s at play on this album: a return to the genre’s original qualities, which will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary.

“Hotlife” is set for release on April 17 through Secret City Records & Turbo Recordings/Modulor.
