Before seven years after his departure from Bavaria, where he played as a player between 2007 and 2019, Franck Ribéry, the former French international, is expected to return to the club of his heart as an assistant coach.
Eager to embark on coaching, the man with nine Bundesliga titles won with Bayern could assist Dante, who is likely to take on the role of U23 team coach next season. According to information from Bild and Sky Sports Germany, Ribéry is very open to a return alongside the Brazilian defender, with whom he played from 2012 to 2015 in Munich.
Already had assistant experience in Italy
Holder of the UEFA “A” license since late 2024, the Frenchman is currently completing his coaching qualifications in Italy and hopes to obtain his BEPF (Professional Football Coach Certificate) in June to be able to coach at a high level. “Once I have all these qualifications, I could potentially take charge of a youth team or become an assistant coach at a good club under the guidance of a good coach,” he explained in mid-January to Bayern’s media.
It is worth noting that Ribéry already had some coaching experience, as he was an assistant coach at Salernitana, his last club, between 2022 and 2024.
As for Dante, who will end his playing career after his tenth and final season at OGC Nice, he has been strongly linked to coaching the Bayern Munich U23 team by the local press for several weeks. The 42-year-old defender, winner of the Champions League in 2013 in Bavaria, has never hidden his desire to return to Germany.
