Context
Freed from the pressure of relegation since their success on Clermont’s field (0-1), Pau FC has been riding on an excellent dynamic. Thanks to the three victories against Clermont, then against Amiens (0-1) and Guingamp (2-1), the Béarnais display the third-best record in the championship over the last five days, tied in points with Troyes and Red Star, two promotion contenders.

Football: Pau FC outclassed Annecy (5-1)
Pau FC traveled to Annecy for the 32nd day of Ligue 2. A midfield duel without real stakes but not without flavor, as the Béarnais were completely overwhelmed.

The Match
Pau FC experienced a real nightmare on Friday night in Annecy. Even organized in a compact 3-5-2 since Thierry Debès took over, the Palois were overwhelmed by the Annecy offense in a one-sided first half.
A Timid Reaction at the End of the Match
Symptomatic of the Pau team’s impotence, Anziani tried his luck with a long free-kick, but the ball soared over the sky of Haute-Savoie. On the other side of the field, the Béarn defense was completely lost. Once again absent, Kanté provided a goal-scoring chance to Rambaud, whose chip hit the crossbar (41st).
Just before halftime, Lebouath had the opportunity to create some suspense, but he sent his shot directly at Escales (44th). At halftime, the Béarnais were down. To try to react, Thierry Debès made two changes before the restart, bringing Pouilly and Gasnier on for Glossoa and Lebouath.
The Rest
Despite this humiliation, Pau FC remains in the top half of the table (9th). After ending their long winless streak against Guingamp, they will try next Saturday (8:00 PM) to defeat Nancy. The following weekend, they will end their season on Reims’ field, still in the race for the top 5 and the promotion playoffs to Ligue 1.
