The Hèches Classic Heritage Sport celebrates the passion for automobiles in the heart of the Pyrenees. Seven gatherings punctuate the year, combining conviviality, mechanical heritage, and support for the local economy. It has become an unmissable event.
Yann Barthès works in Toulouse, but it is always in Hèches that he loves to come back to recharge. This village in the Hautes-Pyrénées remains his hometown, a place filled with family ties where his mother, Marie-Josée Centol, still resides for the reunions he organizes. A little piece of paradise nestled between mountains and valleys, deserving to be known and recognized. This is the belief of Yann Barthès, who wanted to highlight this area by creating an original and dynamic event: the Hèches Classic Heritage Sport.
The concept is simple and unifying: here, everything that rolls is king. “It is a gathering of enthusiasts of cars, motorcycles, trucks, Vespas, mopeds, sports vehicles, classics, prestige, and competition. Anything that rolls is welcome,” he explains enthusiastically. In a warm and unpretentious atmosphere, all participants are welcomed around a friendly coffee, fostering exchanges and meetings between mechanical enthusiasts.
This great idea came to life six years ago and has become a permanent fixture in the local landscape. The event now takes place every third Sunday of March, April, May, June, September, October, and November. “I do all this voluntarily and organize from a distance, but I come back for every event.” In total, seven gatherings punctuate the year, from 9 am to 12:30 pm, in the town hall parking lot.
From noon onwards, the focus is on conviviality around a meal. “This Sunday, April 19th, it will be prepared by a caterer because I try to support local stakeholders, including restaurants.” A clear desire to support the local economy and promote the region’s know-how. In the afternoon, the engines start for a ride through the remarkable landscapes of the Aure and Louron valleys. “This is also what I want to highlight: the discovery of these postcard-worthy sceneries.” And to extend the pleasure, the day generally ends with a relaxing break in Balnéa, in Loudenvielle.
A Free and Flexible Framework
The organization deliberately aims to be free and flexible, without any association framework or constraints. “People come for as long as they want, without registration. They park their vehicle, talk, share their passion. Whoever wants to come is welcome and can stay as long as they want.” An open-minded spirit that makes the event unique and successful.
For this new edition, a true gem is expected: the legendary 205 Turbo 16, produced in only 200 units. Enough to delight fans of beautiful mechanics. The ride will also take the participants to the Peyragudes altiport, with the possibility for the curious to enjoy a plane ride.
This 33rd edition promises to be full of surprises, fueled by a well-crafted and elegant poster. “I like to offer something different each time, with a luxurious touch to stand out.” A work signed by Olivier Reig, a loyal collaborator on the project.
