Asked about his plans in the United States next summer, Antoine Griezmann indicated on Tuesday evening that he will indeed go to the World Cup, but to support the Blues.
A last magical run? Antoine Griezmann intends to “enjoy the remaining matches” to play with Atletico Madrid, which he will leave at the end of the season but with which the Frenchman has just qualified for the Champions League semi-finals this Tuesday evening.
“Atletico is like that, it’s suffering until the final whistle, working together, running together with the supporters who push us, it’s exceptional,” commented Griezmann on Canal + after the Colchoneros’ qualification against FC Barcelona (2-0 in the first leg, 1-2 in the second).
The Blues? “They are the number one favorites and I will be with them all the way”
As he will join MLS and the Orlando franchise in Florida next season, Griezmann will have a first opportunity to win one last trophy with Atleti in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday against his former club Real Sociedad. “Since January, I have regained my place on the field, I play more than at the beginning of the season and I take a lot of pleasure,” he added.
Then comes the time for the United States, where the World Cup will be held this summer. Could this give ideas to the former offensive leader of the Blues, and push him to return to the national team for one last adventure? “Yes, I will have my jersey… in the stands with my son,” joked the man with 137 caps (35 years old). “I wish them all the best, for me they are the number one favorites and I will be with them all the way!”
