Fortuna Düsseldorf: Alexander Jobst swears by relegation finish

In the penultimate season, Fortuna rose to worldwide fame. The club made headlines all over the globe as the first professional club to offer home games for free as part of “Fortuna für alle.” Alexander Jobst’s (52) approach is still deeply rooted in the red and white DNA, but the project leader is now emphasizing that free games (will no longer be available in the 3rd league) and similar initiatives will take a back seat before the last five games.

Jobst told BILD, “For us, it is now solely about the remaining five games and avoiding relegation – nothing else. With Alexander Ende (the new Fortuna coach since Sunday), we have injected a new impetus. However, every individual in the club is needed, on and off the field.”

Jobst sharpens the relegation senses – and the club follows suit. During the initial Ende sessions, it was noticeable that many more employees from Fortuna Düsseldorf were present on the training ground. Members of the scouting department or youth academy, who were rarely seen before, lined the sidelines, giving the impression that the departments are united.

According to BILD, on Tuesday Jobst also sent an email to all “Fortuna für alle” partners, seeking mental support. The focus is not only on the club itself but also on job positions and finances.

Jobst stated, “The football business is brutal – especially in a relegation scenario, we don’t sugarcoat anything. Budgets will be much tighter everywhere, as we have openly discussed internally as executives. At the same time, we all have it in our hands together.”

Jobst’s call is clear: “Link arms, stick together, and give everything for Fortuna. It is crucial for us to tackle these five weeks together and believe in the strength of this club. We need positive energy now. All for Fortuna!”
