Russia was hit by one of the most massive Ukrainian attacks since the beginning of the conflict on Sunday, May 17. Nearly 600 Ukrainian drones caused four deaths. The offensive comes after Russian attacks on Kiev on Wednesday night, killing at least 24 people.

Some filmed the moment when the drone or its debris fell in various locations in the suburbs of Moscow (Russia) between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 17. “I really felt the explosion,” commented one of the witnesses. A surveillance camera captured the arrival of a drone in Putilkovo, where a woman died.

The massive attack claimed three more victims in Russia. “There are broken windows, but I don’t know where,” another witness specified. In total, 80 drones were intercepted above the Russian capital and its surroundings. Many residents witnessed the work of the anti-aircraft defense, which destroyed the unmanned aircraft.

The noise of the drones put thousands of Muscovites on alert. Some filmed an aircraft changing direction in flight. “It turns, it’s coming towards us. No, it’s fine. It’s horrible, it’s a nightmare,” they commented.

In Zelenograd, 50 kilometers from the city center, the facade of a building was heavily damaged. “There is no more balcony,” observed a resident. Still on social media, images of a fire in a petrochemical installation were published. 60 km from Moscow, a fuel storage station and its huge tanks were hit. A refinery was also affected, causing 12 injuries. “Moscow is not the only region to be affected. According to the authorities, 600 drones were intercepted over the entire Russia. A response to the Russian strikes against Ukraine this week,” explained Anne Ponsinet from France Télévisions Moscow.
