The transformation of the port reaches a milestone: during the International Multihull Boat Show, the City of La Grande Motte unveils two major facilities that shape the future face of the Baumel peninsula and strengthen its nautical ambition. The port accelerates its transformation with two structuring facilities
On the occasion of the International Multihull Boat Show, the City presented two key projects for the future of the Baumel peninsula, located on the west platform of the port: the Nautical Hall and the Port Office. These two structuring achievements are part of the momentum of the extensive City-Port program, designed to sustainably enhance the nautical attractiveness of the area.
A Nautical Hall at the heart of the activity
Designed as a central hub dedicated to water sports, the Nautical Hall, designed by the Rougerie-Tangram agency, will bring together professionals, dealers, and associations on a single site.
Spanning over 3,000 m², it will feature a waterfront showroom and a technical courtyard. The project also integrates sustainable solutions, including the installation of photovoltaic panels and a design that takes into account climate risks.
A functional and open Port Office
In addition, the Port Office, envisioned by the ODA agency, will consolidate the main operational functions: technical hangar, lifting management, sanitation, and boat storage.
Conceived as a place of connection between professionals, boaters, and the general public, it will also include a dining area, contributing to the site’s vibrancy and its connection to the city.
A comprehensive project to reinvent the waterfront
Beyond these two facilities, the City-Port program envisions a profound transformation of the entire sector. Among the announced developments are the requalification of docks and pontoons, the creation of new public spaces, a 135-space parking lot, the modernization of port infrastructure, and the development of a residential offer of 244 units, including 50% affordable housing.
A project in multiple phases until 2028
Commencing in 2026, the project will unfold in several stages. Port and maritime works have already begun this year. The construction of the Port Office is scheduled between 2026 and 2027, followed by the realization of the Nautical Hall between 2027 and 2028.
With this new phase, the city clearly asserts its ambition: to make the port a space that is both efficient, attractive, and fully integrated into urban life.
