This is an important activity serving the five-year review of the implementation of Directive No. 12-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee on strengthening the Party’s leadership and improving the efficiency of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation, while providing additional practical arguments for the scientific research project “Vietnam’s People-to-People Diplomacy in the New Era: Challenges and Solutions” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and “Research on People-to-People Diplomacy Activities in the World in the New Context and Proposed Solutions for Vietnam” by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

In his opening speech, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van emphasized that, in a complex and unstable global context marked by increasing strategic competition and rapid changes in global trends, people-to-people diplomacy must continue to assert its role as one of the three pillars of Vietnam’s global, modern, and professional diplomacy.

The conference is expected to propose innovative and feasible solutions in line with the requirements for implementing the foreign policy guidelines of the 14th National Assembly to create a favorable international environment for the country’s rapid and sustainable development.

For this purpose, the workshop proposed several innovative solutions to improve the quality of research, strategic advice, training, and capacity building in people-to-people diplomacy; enhance the participation of popular organizations in multilateral mechanisms; innovate in the content and methods of foreign affairs information; promote the leadership and coordination role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; and expand the role of people-to-people diplomacy in economic diplomacy, science and technology, culture, etc.

In conclusion of the workshop, Vice Minister Ngo Le Van acknowledged the contributions and stated that to elevate the level of people-to-people diplomacy in the new context, it is necessary to focus on overcoming obstacles related to reflection, awareness, coordination mechanisms, and ensuring human and financial resources for diplomatic activities; meanwhile, it is important to promote the various roles of stakeholders such as businesses, intellectuals, artists, and the Vietnamese community abroad.
