The first leg of the 2026 World Archery Cup season took place last weekend in Puebla, Mexico, under challenging windy conditions. 19-year-old Mila Fremery-Delestan, a member of the Arc club in Nimes, made her international debut in the senior category and finished 6th in her first appearance at this level.
For her first selection on the French team and her first participation in the World Cup, the Nimes Arc club member finished 6th after coming in 13th in the qualifications.
In the Round of 16, Fremery-Delestan defeated Turkish archer Canse Duru Tarakci 6/2, followed by a victory over Olympic medalist Ana Vasquez from Mexico at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the Round of 8 (7/3). In the quarterfinals, she was defeated by Chinese archer Yuwei Huang.
While Fremery-Delestan shone in her debut, Baptiste Addis, the top qualifier who outperformed the world’s top five archers, was eliminated in the Round of 8 by Taiwanese archer Chih-chun Tang. Addis ended up in 11th place individually and 4th in the team event.
It was a more challenging experience for the two other Nimes archers, Anaëlle Florent and Alexis Renaudineau, dealing with the windy conditions and making their first steps at this level. Renaudineau finished 41st and Florent 44th in the competition.
