Maurice Cohen, back at the helm of OGC Nice, discussed the delicate situation of the club currently engaged in the fight for survival. The future of Elye Wahi, coveted by Eintracht Frankfurt, remains uncertain.
Returning to lead the Niçios club, Maurice Cohen did not shy away from sensitive issues in an interview with ICI Azur. Among them, the case of Elye Wahi, whose future closely depends on the sporting situation of the Aiglons. “We would like to keep Elye Wahi. In football, anything is possible. He is a very endearing boy,” said the director. But the club’s room for maneuver remains limited.
A dossier conditional on survival
The Niçios leader reiterated that any discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt were currently impossible: “We have not yet had discussions with Frankfurt and we cannot have any before knowing if we are in Ligue 1 next season.” In this light, the preferred hypothesis would be a new loan. “We would like a renewal of his loan…,” he added, aware that the club’s financial constraints could hinder any more ambitious operation.
A few matchdays before the end, maintaining Ligue 1 status appears to be the cornerstone of the Niçios project, directly conditioning the future of several key players, starting with Elye Wahi. The Aiglons must therefore secure their place before thinking about the future.
