A report suggests that Nvidia is preparing to cut the supply of GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB for a period of two weeks at the end of April 2026. This decision would aim to control prices in a market already under pressure.
Nvidia cuts the tap on the 8 GB
According to information from Gazlog, Nvidia plans to suspend deliveries of GPUs intended for GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB cards for approximately two weeks, starting at the end of April 2026. Partners like ASUS, MSI or Gigabyte would no longer receive chips during this window, before resuming in May.
It is said internally that the firm is facing an overstock in the entry-level segment. The situation would cause uncomfortable price erosion for Nvidia. Suddenly the strategy is known. It consists of temporarily reducing supply to stop the decline and maintain the perceived value of the product among the public.
This is not the first time this rumor has appeared. A few weeks ago there was already talk of a production pause of up to several weeks on the GeForce RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti.
GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB, a controversial card from launch
During its launch on April 16, 2025, Nvidia adopted an unusual tactic with two targeted actions around the press. On the one hand, we had an embargo which fell on the same day it went on sale, without advance reviews. On the other hand, the firm had actively asked its partners not to send the 8 GB version to testers. As a result, only the 16 GB version was available for the D-day analyses. Since then we have not had a satisfactory explanation from Nvidia.
A year later, independent benchmarks gave a very clear explanation. In real conditions the card is competitive at 1080p but shows its limits as soon as the definition climbs or Ray Tracing comes into play. The lack of VRAM is very penalizing on titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows on high settings with ray tracing. AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB then takes an advantage of more than 50% in the worst cases.
Be careful, this 8 GB limit is not only a problem with Nvidia. AMD also launched its Radeon RX 9060 XT in an 8 GB version. Independent tests show an identical situation.
Should you buy a graphics card now?
If the suspension of deliveries of the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB is confirmed, the stock available in stores will automatically reduce in the coming weeks, and prices could rise again. So for buyers who hesitated between the two versions, this 8 GB version will lose even more meaning (limited life expectancy and rising price).
It is precisely in this window that AMD can try to position itself by highlighting its Radeon RX 9060 GinjFo as one of the best current options for 1440p gaming in this budget.
In terms of raw performance ratio, it is slightly below the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB in Rasterization. In ray tracing, AMD remains behind on certain titles. In France, Gigabyte and Sapphire models are available from 359 euros while the 16 GB version is priced between 448 and 496 euros depending on the model.
