On Thursday, April 23, Véronique Genestou, a music teacher at Lucie-Aubrac middle school, invited the two 9th grade classes to get to know this world through Aline Gorisse. This composer works in schools around her piece “Intermuros”. She was accompanied by Florence Hurtaud, in charge of mediation, and the SuperPhoniques. This program brings together two male composers and two female composers who work in the 57 middle schools and 58 high schools registered.
Sounds of the city
Aline Gorisse, born in the North and now living in Paris, travels throughout France to introduce young people to music. She started singing in choir at the age of 4. At 13, she entered the conservatory in musicology and lyrical singing. Her dream was to become a choir conductor, but then she discovered contemporary music: “It was love at first sight.” She further studied the subject and joined a specialized conservatory.
At the middle school, the students, who had listened to the pieces beforehand, asked questions: “What does it mean to be a contemporary music composer today? Do you make a living from this profession? How did you come up with the idea of composing this kind of music?” This was followed by a workshop on the sounds of the city and graphic scores, noted with drawings.
