For the eighth consecutive year, Le Dauphiné Libéré, in partnership with Le Cercle 1892, is organizing its Sud-Isère sports trophy operation. Each month, until May 2026, you can read about the Athlete of the Month before selecting the Athlete of the Year in June. Here is the list for the month of April.

Marion Borras (cycling, Pontcharra). The cyclist from Pontcharra was engaged in the World Track Cycling Cup held in Hong Kong in April. She won the madison event and also secured a third place in the team pursuit. Photo FFC/Patrick Pichon

Matteo Caspani (roller hockey, Grenoble). The Grenoble Yeti’s have qualified for the Elite Championship Playoffs, with Mattéo Caspani playing a crucial role in the team and being an international player. Photo Karine Valentin

Samuel Equy (ski-mountaineering, L’Alpe d’Huez). The skier from Isère recorded a remarkable performance by breaking the record for a ski round trip between Chamonix and Mont Blanc. He is also an accomplished summer trail runner. Photo Nils Louna

Ambre Mwayembe (rugby, Vizille). Ambre Mwayembe, who plays as a prop and is now licensed in Toulouse, has made rapid progress. The 22-year-old from Vizille is currently competing in the Six Nations Tournament with the French national team. Photo Karine Valentin
